As these technologies become ever more widespread, there are concerns about society’s dependence on a single resource -- crude oil. The world is now confronting the issues brought about by this reliance -- primarily its limitations, vehicle emissions on health, and the adverse environmental effects – particularly due to the greenhouse emission carbon dioxide – on climate change.

Natural gas is a clean, versatile fuel with abundant reserves around the world, and for these reasons, it is often a good substitute for oil. But there is a downside: Difficulties and extra expenses occur when transporting it from the remote locations where it is produced. The challenge is to find more ways of bringing natural gas to markets, and to turn it into a diversified basket of products customers need.
